My Experience on the Disney Wish

Updated: Nov 5, 2022

Disney Wish

I spent the last week of October (24-28) onboard the brand new Disney Wish, the 5th ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet and the first in the all new Triton Class of Disney ships. This was my fourth cruise of this year and the Disney Wish is my favorite ship so far! This ship is very different from the other Disney ships, but it still feels magical with its new theming, lounges, restaurants and attractions.

The Disney Wish is designed to feel like an enchanted castle and feels as if you are walking through one from the moment you step into the Grand Hall. The detail in the Grand Hall and the pathways surrounding it really make it feel like you're walking through an enchanted castle and it reminds me of the inside of the castle at Shanghai Disneyland.

Moving on to some of the entertainment, my favorite spot on the Disney Wish is the Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge, located on deck 3 just around the corner from the Grand Hall. This lounge is small, but packed with details that make it feel as if you are in a starship cruising through the Star Wars galaxy. I love this lounge more than anything else on this ship and it's where I spent most of my time while onboard.

The whole atmosphere of the lounge is something I've never experienced before. The custom-made screen (window) may not look like it in pictures, but it is very realistic in person and shows views of various locations around the galaxy, such as Mustafar, Coruscant, and Tatooine and you can even experience the jump to hyperspace every 7-10 minutes.

The Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge has a variety of drinks from around the galaxy. Many of the drinks here are from familiar worlds like Mustafar, Batuu and Endor. Some popular drinks are the Batuuan Harvest Brew and Berken's Flow. One not so popular drink is the Kaiburr Crystal, "the galaxy's rarest and valuable cocktail," which costs $5,000! (No one ordered it on my sailing)

Adding to the Star Wars themed areas onboard the Disney Wish, the kids club has a large Star Wars: Cargo Bay with many interactive elements. This space also has great details that make you feel as if you are actually on a spaceship in the Star Wars Galaxy. I loved going to the kids clubs on Disney ships when I was younger and I would have loved having this on the other ships that I've been on.

The great experiences don't stop at the lounges and kids clubs, they continue into the main restaurants too. The Disney Wish has three main restaurants as a part of the rotational dining: Worlds of Marvel, Arendelle and 1923.

Worlds of Marvel Disney Wish

Worlds of Marvel is an incredible interactive dining experience that is sure to entertain any Marvel geek like myself. Arendelle is a beautiful restaurant with many details from the "Frozen" movies and has a great dinner show featuring some familiar characters, good music and delicious food. 1923 is the more formal restaurant that is separated into two dining rooms-Walt Disney and Roy Disney-and have various displays of Disney animation throughout the years.

All of these restaurants are great with great food and entertainment. However, dinner usually takes a long time because of the shows that go along with each course. Other than the time, the experience in each restaurant is unique and unforgettable in a good way.

The entertainment at the Walt Disney Theatre is great onboard the Disney Wish. Just like the other ships, great broadway style shows are performed on the Disney Wish and "The Little Mermaid" and "Aladdin" were the two shows performed during my sailing. They were both outstanding, but "Aladdin" was my favorite because of Genie's jokes and a new take on the classic story.

The entertainment and activities continue to the outer decks of the Disney Wish with a few pools, a large "Funnel Vision" screen that plays movies and live sports, deck parties and the AquaMouse, Disney's first attraction at sea. There are a few pools at the back, middle and front of the ship and they aren't very big, but they all have a theme. The AquaMouse is a fun, but quick raft ride that is based off the newer Mickey Mouse cartoons and have two storylines that are shown as the raft takes you up the lift hill (tube) located on the right of the picture below.

Themed deck parties are key to a Disney cruise and the Disney Wish had two main deck parties on my sailing. Besides the usual sail away party, my cruise had both a halloween themed deck party and a pirate themed deck party that concluded with fireworks. These events are always fun, but they can get crowded and it's recommended that you arrive to the top decks early to get a good viewing spot.

Disney Wish

Overall, my short time spent onboard the new Disney Wish was not wasted and I was able to enjoy almost everything that this beautiful ship has to offer. There are still a few things onboard that I have yet to experience, so I'll make sure to include them in my plans the next time I cruise on the Disney Wish.
