Day in Jamaica

Falmouth Jamaica

One of the ports-of-call on my cruise back in November was the city of Falmouth, Jamaica and it was my first time visiting this Caribbean island, so I made sure to do as much as possible on this one day.

My first stop was at Dunn's River Falls, a beautiful waterfall system that flows directly into the Caribbean Sea. This excursion began on the beach where I started my hike up the waterfall. The water was a little cold and the current was strong in many areas. Everyone in my group was required to hold hands and walk in a single file line to prevent us from being swept away.

There were a few times that I was able to stop and enjoy the scenery during the climb. I tried my best to soak up all of the beauty of the falls, including the surrounding flora and fauna (I also came across some of the largest spiders that I have ever seen in the wild).

The whole hike took about 45 minutes and once I was at the highest point of the walk, I got to relax for a few minutes and enjoy the gorgeous waterfall. This was definitely one of the best adventures that I've had and it was only half of my excursion!

The next stop of the day was a place called Mystic Mountain, where I took a chairlift to the top of a mountain while enjoying gorgeous views of the mountains and the Caribbean Sea.

Jamaica Bobsled

The journey to the top was about 5-10 minutes because the lift would make brief stops every so often, which I had no problem with because the view was great and it only gave me more time to enjoy it.

Immediately after arriving at the top, I took a ride on a bobsled coaster through the jungle. Each rider controls the speed of their own bobsled so I made sure to go as fast as possible by keeping the brake from engaging throughout most of the ride. I did slow down in some areas so that I could enjoy the view though.

This experience only lasted about three minutes, but it was amazing nonetheless. I have only had one other experience similar to this and that was when I visited the Great Wall of China all the way back in the summer of 2019. Both experiences were unforgettable, but I have to say this one in Jamaica is my favorite so far!

Overall, I had a great time visiting Jamaica and I hope to go back soon and stay for a longer time so that I can have another go at these experiences and also have some new adventures in other areas on the island.
